Since the start of my hair restoration journey these past years, I’ve been meaning to try step 3 from La Plancha’s directions for the longest time. Here they are:
This product can be applied in three different ways depending on your particular needs: Apply LA PLANCHA after shampoo, leave in hair for 3-5 minutes, rinse with warm water. Style as usual.
For moderate conditioning, shampoo and towel dry hair. Apply LA PLANCHA from scalp to ends, wrap hair in plastic cap and place under dryer or blower for 15 minutes, rinse with warm water. Style as usual.
For deeper conditioning and intensive hair repair, after shampooing apply LA PLANCHA, divide hair into sections, wrap each section in aluminum foil. Proceed to heat each section with professional hair ceramic iron for 30 seconds. Rinse with warm water.
So that’s what I did this past weekend and loved it. If you’ve ever seen a stylist apply highlights, you notice she turns the customer into some weird looking thing with many foils on their head. That’s what I ended up looking like.
I parted my hair into small sections because my Iron is not too wide and also wanted to get an even distribution throughout. I pretty much rolled my hair and then wrapped the aluminium over my hair creating a little packet.
Once I had all of my sections foiled (about 15) I grabbed my flat iron at about 350 degrees and held for 30 seconds each. I was freaking out at one point because I wanted to avoid my wet hair, so once the iron hit the foil, it began to sizzle! Thankfully it was not my hair but rather the wet foil. So try not to burn your wet hair if you try this step.
The results! I clearly can notice some heat damage from my recent beauty salon visits (notice how there are some stringy looking hair throughout… ), but overall I was pleased with the results. The above picture was right after rinsing the DC. I then followed up with Giovanni’s conditioner and went under the dryer for 10 minutes, rinsed, roller set……….
After all that washing and roller setting and wrapping I was left with shiny hair, although I’m due for a trim soon, perhaps on my next salon visit. Overall I was pleased with this step and may try it frequently with other DC’s too and see how it turns out. Check Out My Regimen….
